Aged Veterans Counselling is a MoD funded service providing free counselling to anyone with military service born before 1950. Unlimited numbers of referrals for free counselling can only be made up until 31st March 2017, when the year 1 funding comes to an end. If you or your colleagues are aware of any veteran, including all ex-National Service men and women, who may benefit from a course of free counselling, please organise their referral to us by 31st March 2017.

Key features of this unique free counselling service include:

  • Open to anyone born before 1950 who has any military service (including National Service).
  • Counselling is extended to family members and carers of veterans born before 1950.
  • Counselling can be provided at the home / care home of the veteran.
  • The service is completely free of charge, and is funded by the MoD's Veteran's Fund.
  • The counselling covers all everyday issues, such as bereavement, depression, loneliness and anxiety, and is not restricted to post combat or PTSD issues.
  • Most referrals are made by a third party, such as a GP surgery, care home, or a veterans' charity. Individual veterans can also self-refer.
  • All counselling is confidential and provided by specialist BACP accredited counsellors.

With just one month remaining to access this valuable resource, we encourage you to:

  • Spread the word amongst your colleagues and partners
  • Refer those who are in need and would benefit from counselling

We are here to help you and your colleagues spread awareness of this valuable service throughout the wider veteran's community and we can also help you manage referrals to us. We have 1,000's of leaflets and poster we can send you:

  • Guidelines for welfare and field workers booklets
  • Leaflets for veterans and their families
  • Posters to display in centres, GP surgeries, etc.

Please let us know how many of each leaflet, booklet and poster you would like us to send.

If you know of anyone who may qualify and benefit from this free counselling service, they or someone on their behalf can contact, in confidence, Aged Veterans Counselling.

You only have one month to help someone who may benefit from this unique free counselling service. Remember, unlimited numbers of referrals for free counselling can only be made up until 31st March 2017, when the year 1 funding comes to an end.
